I love creating diverse Sims myself. However, when it comes to townies, I agree with @So_Money. Those ethnic names can get really out of control - I love diversity, but it's come to a point where there's actually a lack of English names amongst townies haha. I never change skintones, but I might change hair colors when, for example, I get quite a dark townie with blonde or red hair. That way, it's easy to get a bit of diversity with townies.
