Do TS4 Ghosts annoy anyone else?

I recently had 3 household members die, I decided to put their graves on my lot and strengthen their connection to the physical world so my other Sims could still interact with them, and because I would miss them! I've interacted with ghosts plenty of times in The Sims 3 and 4, and I always thought it was really fun. I've explored all the interactions and cheats with ghosts because it's so much fun.

What I was not prepared for was 3 Gloomy ghosts wreaking havoc on my freaking household appliances and plumbing. All the while, my living Sims are mourning them while receiving texts and phone calls from the ghosts! I found it so annoying and overwhelming after a while. I'm only just now coming back to The Sims 3 after about a year, but I don't remember being so annoyed with Ghosts in TS3.

After a while, I put them in "time out" by putting their graves in my inventory. I've considered bringing them back to life, because they weren't this annoying while they were alive lmao.

  • I don't mind the ghosts myself but I never really keep my ghosts so I don't really experience their mayhem except when I have the ghost lot trait and yes they are annoying. I just create a graveyard/cemetery for my dead Sims and have the family members stick their beloved dead there. I have both a 'catacomb' like structure and also an area outside to put gravestones. Then the ghosts can live out their 'lives' until the netherworld claims them in their own time.

I have met ghosts, whose urns/stones are in said graveyard, in bars on ghost night so they do hang around.

If I have an urn/tombstone on lot, for instance on the fireplace mantle , I usually release the dearly departed to the netherworld. I do have one ghost who has high relations with one of my living Sim I am currently playing and he comes to visit reguarly so he is still sticking around. He has only once so far caused a flood but I really don't want him to leave yet. And no his urn/tombstone is not on the lot he is visiting.
  • Recently, it seems in my games that keeping urns out on the lot makes my game lag really bad. Or keeping the urns outside, more specifically. Inside the house doesn't seem to cause lag but I can't keep them out in the back yard anymore. I'm not sure if it's because of a recent patch or what, so if I don't plan on reviving them and need to keep them around for family tree purposes I put them in a graveyard lot.
  • I keep urns/tombstones in my inventory because of this. If one is on the lot, all living sims do is mourn, and the ghosts act entirely on their moodlets instead of having any remainder of personality. They possess objects, which is funny a couple times, but not as often as it happens.

I worked hard to build up a relationship with my legacy founder's deceased husband so she could re-marry him. It was bad enough that death parted them, and when he re-married her, he wasn't anything like... himself. So we returned him to the netherworld, disappointed. :'(

I've never done that before, that sounds like a fun project.
  • I don't want to lose their spirit so I don't send them to the netherworld but omg do they tempt me by breaking things around the house ?
  • I like that Sims can turn themselves into ghosts with enough medium skill and love the cute little spectres! (just wish there were more varieties like flirty spectres and scared spectres) Was surprised the other day when I resumed a save and found Guidry had formed a romantic relationship with my Sim outside of gameplay (How? I have ageing turned off and they were just friends before!)

What I did find annoying when I brought one ghost back into the household was that I had to keep remarrying my ghost sim to her spouse every time she was brought back to life (she died twice accidentally).

I also found it a bit confusing that ghost Sims who are part of the household still have decaying needs which seem to need fulfilling (otherwise they complain all the time). What happens if these needs are left to empty? Surely they can't starve to death if they are already a ghost?
