My sims keep identifying new fish species no matter what they are doing. Even on campus, far away from any fishing spot, they get notes that they just identified new sorts of fish. It feels like a bug, but maybe I'm the only one? I think this is kinda silly, especially if the sim has never tried catching fish or never had an aquarium. My non-fish-interested sim should not end up knowing all the fish species...!

Yes! I get that too! I haven't looked it up on AHQ yet, but yeah...my Sims will be in the middle of a conversation and suddenly identifying a fish species. It makes no sense whatsoever.

What Ive noticed is not just this but Sims I'm not even controlling Sims that are just in my neighborhood wandering around they are the ones identifying new fish and plants lol. ?

Yes! I get that too! I haven't looked it up on AHQ yet, but yeah...my Sims will be in the middle of a conversation and suddenly identifying a fish species. It makes no sense whatsoever.

It's been happening since the Island Living patch for me. I thought since I saw nobody else mention it that it was just me. :D

Yes, you are correct! I've seen that some times, too, sims not being in the active household do identify fish...

Mine too. Two of mine has just gotten out of class and were killing time for the next class by just standing outside, talking. In the middle of talking, my played Sim identified a fish. ?

Me too! I've been meaning to mention this. We need to make sure the developers know that this is a bug. I have my sims randomly identifying fish in active households and popups for other households as well!

I could understand this if two sims with more than minimum fishing skills talk, but most of my sims are not into fish at all.

All they have to do is talk about local fishing spots - which requires zero fishing skill. Which is probably why all those fish are being discovered, as sims love to do so very randomly.
