@galacticgal Clicking their portrait and choosing to bring them to the lot does indeed work, for any of the lot types where it defaults to 'sending to daycare' when you try to bring them as you travel.
Not sure if you knew this, but high chairs can take the place of a normal chair at a table, where it slides up and locks to the table. I have a few tables set up with highchairs like this at all of the restaurants (except the really nice ones where I'd never bring a toddler). You do have to move it around once your sims are seated though, if the staff seats you at a non-highchair table, but at least it saves the time of wading into the catalog for the highchairs.
I love taking my little toddlers with my sims everywhere they go. It's silly that EA defaults to sending them away even after you explicitly choose them from the travel menu, but at least they let us do the click-bring here action to cancel their silliness.
