I don't need my in-game holidays to match the ones in the real world. I can't imagine only allowing my sims to celebrate Fright Fest during the real world month of October. I play too frequently for that, and would, indeed, find it boring. Besides, I like Halloween. I see this as a way to celebrate it almost year round.
I play with two week seasons and long life, and while I don't have a ton of holidays, between the premade ones, the random ones and my own, I can usually count on at least one holiday coming up each play session (though sometimes it's a random one that I delete before it happens)
I did relocate Love Day to be the Friday before the spring Romance Festival with Springfest the day after. (I wish I could designate that whole Weekend as a single holiday with three days to fill the traditions)
