I use mccc to cheat sims to have skills that I think make sense for them. When I added Chuck and Maya from the gallery I gave Chuck some fitness, DJing and dancing. For Maya I gave her some writing, dancing and singing. In my story for them Maya is level 1 in the social media career and Chuck is also level 1 in the Detective career he however want to be a DJ.
I've also gone and raise the skills of some of the other base game sims and even raised some of their careers as for some it doesn't make sense for them to be living in these big houses but have low level career or little to no skills.
I never thought of raising the premades' skills, or any of the skills for sims I don't play. I'm laying out my new world right now, so I might just go through and make some small adjustments.
I create a lot of my own townies -- I will go in and play them just to give them some skills and a few of the reward traits and extra traits especially the Parenthood traits, both positive and negative -- I've given Sims the Good Manners trait, but combined it with Uncontrolled Emotions and Argumentative or I think it's Insensitive (for negative Empathy). I'll give a few of the Parenthood traits to the Sims I create to play as well, but I don't often cheat the traits or skills because it gets boring if there's nothing to work towards.
