Do you ever cheat a sim's skills for story/character reasons?

I've never done it, but I think I would if I was playing a story where it would make sense for a sim to already have a skill at the start of the 'story.'

I do, however, have sims wish for skills at the wishing well somewhat often. It's a fun way to get your sim some levels (or even max) in a random skill without really cheating.
