Do you ever create "test" Sims?

What I mean by "test" is that the Sim's existence is solely based on being used as a guinea pig of sorts--it's not a household you play regularly, their only purpose is to either test things or set things up in advance. I guess you could call them "worker Sims".

I always have one in every save. His only job is to test out new establishments I've created, or in some cases to prepare things. For example, I always send him to any location I have bee boxes to "enrage" the bees. I'll take care of his needs, but I don't care about his fun or social--he's there to work! lol When he's served his purpose, I don't play him again until I need more testing done.

Do you do anything similar to that?

  • I actually created a Test Sim earlier today, to see if it's possible to stash 9.999.999 simoleons in a vault and still make money. It was. Me happy.
  • I test sims when I create buildings, it enables me to spot and fix flaws before hosting it online.
It also comes handy if your trying to make mods, I have made a few mods, especially using the portal, in which I intend to use for the build I am doing at the moment.
  • I find it really annoying when starting a “new game”, we are forced to create a sim before doing anything. So I have some throwaway sims I’ve made because of that.
  • I do absolutely make test sims. Most recently, I wanted to see how the cow plant can eat sims (hoping to woo the paparazzi into its clutches somehow), so I created a sim named "Cowplant Food" and made him a really nasty individual. It took on two attempts for him to live up to his name. :D Sometimes I make experimental sims in new saves too so I can test out how things will work in builds and with other sims. I also add the sims I have to make for new saves to my library so they can be townies in my main save. I have lots of those guys.

I found this out too recently. I was sooooo HAPPY.
  • I used to create "Test Sims", or grab a random Townie as "a guinea pig". :D But I often ended up liking the Sim so kept them either as an NPC or even a semi-played.

Most of the time now to test things, I use existing sims I have. I'll make a "Test" save of course first. Or several as a I'm testing. Then when done delete those save files.
  • I use sims I've created but rarely play as my testers. I mostly use tester sims after a patch or a new pack comes out. Sometimes a test save evolves into a real save and I continue to play it on.

It's good to know that it doesn't have to stop there. ;)
