So far I've played both Paleo- and Neolithicum, Imperial Rome, Oldwest, Settlement of Australia and post-WW II, with Oldwest being my favorite.
I'm skewed towards a supernatural playstyle, though. Every time I attempt medieval gameplay it quickly turns into fantasy instead, the Oldwest/Australia saves had strong steampunk components, the stone age saves had aliens and the late 40s save was just begging to get some aliens, too.
70s/80s sound good, but coming from the eastern side of the Iron Curtain my 70s/80s were probably very different from how EA would present them. Many fashion trends, TV shows, movies, phone models and so on that I associate with my teenhood (90s) seem to actually have been 80s phenomens.
