I usually play with aging on - and on normal lifespan. I like the challenge of trying to max skills and complete aspirations within a limited timeframe. I still rarely see my sims die, because either I get more interested in the kids and then move the kids out to start a story of their own (and I do usually have aging off for inactive played households), or they complete whatever goal I set for them and I just drop them and move on 🤷🏼♀️
Or sometimes a cross of the two - okay, you’re nearly done with the goal I set you, so have a couple kids so I have someone interesting to play with… okay bye, leaving with your kid!
I play with ageing off. I age up some Sims for storytelling purposes sometimes. Like ageing up teens to leave home and start a family. But I want to have control over when they age up and why.
I also age up babies pretty quickly to infant stage.

Always off. I age up my sims when I'm ready. 🙂 And never past the adult stage. Although I do have several sets of grandparents as extended family.
