- elliebretonSeasoned AceOh my... all the darn time. I am always going through the manage households thingy to give the generated sims names I can actually pronounce.
Thank goodness they gave us the ability to edit sims easily to our hearts content. - wildirishbansheeRising NoviceQuite a bit since City Living lol - I can't pronounce half those names! Finally caved and got a mod for it just recently. I don't mind some, but holy hellfire I have a ton of cultural names - they've overtaken my normal sim names!
- paradiseplanet27Seasoned NewcomerOnly when there's an overexcessive amount of City Living names that don't match the Sims they're paired with :p
- I rename everyone. I can’t remember the last time I saw a townie walk by and didn’t facepalm at their name.
Sometimes it’s because the first name doesn’t fit with the last name, but more often than not it’s due to the huge bias towards Asian names. With the exception of Spanish, there are hardly any European-named sims generated by the game. Where are all the Italian, German, French, Polish, and Swedish names, for example? - No. Unlike most people I love the city living names, before them every female sim I met was a Sally. It drove me crazy. I wish they wouldn't make two households with the same last name though, that really bugs me.
I've noticed I get more names the people on this forum consider "normal" or not "exotic" (?) when I go to other worlds like Windenburg or Willow Creek. Then I get a ton of sims with the last name Fuller.
Also, it's pretty unrealistic to expect sims' names to match their appearance, because if they were to match there would have to be race in the game or something of the sort which wouldn't go over well. - GalacticGalSeasoned AceNo. I also don't waste my time going about and changing out their wardrobes, either. I do get upset if I'm not in the home when a Sim of mine is born. I had the eldest child and his wife move out before the baby was born, my bad, and I went into the lot of the only girl with my celebrity star, so I could play them. I got so involved in that household and with Erik's trials, that I failed to check back on the older brother. The game gave his son the name of Hobart. :: Shudders violently:: I finally took the time the day before the patch came, to amend that situation, to age him up to Child and to created a toddler sister in that household, besides putting a larger home on their lot. Then I aged up the twins the third son and his wife had, fixed the body of the youngest son, who is a teen and did my 'maintenance'. After learning that the MCCC mod works okay after the patch, I went ahead an updated. Hey, a very dear friend of mine passed away Monday night and I'm not myself right now. Happens.
- Like many others, I'll edit the name if it doesn't suit the Sim; I use a mod that reduces the frequency of CL names so I don't have to do it quite as often. I will stick with a cultural pattern though -- I'm not going to name an Indian-appearing Sim John Smith. I'll look up names online to find one that works but isn't super long.
- No, I just delete them

Exactly. I actually like that San Myshuno has more Asian townies. Everyone knows that by "normal" folks mean bland, American/Anglo-Saxon names like "Jennifer" or "Ryan" lmao. I actually find myself changing names to make them more "foreign" or just unique, because I prefer a diverse game. - mariefoxprice83Seasoned HotshotI do this fairly frequently, especially if the game has a strong theme.
