Do you think they handle Goth update poorly?

I like the new Mortimer, Cassandra, and Alexander but I’m not crazy about the new Bella so I may add the original back in. I always edit them if I’m going to play them anyway.

They are, but it’s the version from Dream Home Decorator where they changed their outfits and I think Bella’s makeup and stuff. I mean they look basically the same but I wanted to preserve the absolute originals. So I saved them from my build file because I have aging off in that one and I don’t touch any of the pre-made sims, and uploaded them to the gallery for anyone who wanted them in their absolute original state.

I don't think it's been done poorly or feel it was needed, I don't really pay attention to premades that much I focus on my sims

I was hoping they'd add likes and dislikes, they could just copy the Dream Home Decorators Goths' ones.

I'm not too fond of the new Goths, they took away iconic features from all of them. The only one I like better is new Cassandra, they should have just kept her round glasses.

I'm a bit more hopeful about the future Caliente update cause they ALREADY don't look like themselves in Sims 4, but there's no guarantee they will make them more similar to their previous iterations either. Especially with stuff like thinking about giving them brown eyes out of nowhere, as if saying that people of Hispanic and Arab background can't have green eyes. I think assuming people of a certain background are 'supposed to have' very specific features or 'can't have' other features is a bit close-minded...

Seems odd that they don't have staff, time, or resources to produce high quality packs that work properly yet they do for this nonsense. As others have posted, the new versions should be gallery only so players may choose as they will. The current approach smacks of control and imposing their will on us - the ones they are supposed to serve, are the reason they exist, and keep them afloat via our purchases.

I think that simply uploading them to the gallery kinda feels like a cop-out. The whole point of the update was to make some of the notable townies from the Sims franchise (like the Goths and the Callientes) be represented more accurately in the Sims 4, according to their heritage and previous game versions. Could the Goths do with a few more tweaks? Yeah, probably. Ultimately though, I think they made the right call to replace them with updated versions.

Yeah, I feel that changing the look of these classic characters should have been handled with more care. Maybe offer choices for the players that like the look of the goths that they have played for 8 years.

I thought that this was going to be part of a huge lore update, not an SDX delivery. I also didn't think that they would change their looks so much. It doesn't feel like the Goths, especially Bella and Alexander.

its not like he is vlad (except actually in some languages his name in ts1 was vlad something but i will pretend thats not a thing)

I don't like the new versions but I don't think poorly is the right word. The team obviously did their best but they were so heavily focused on realism and political correctness that they lost attention to keeping their identity. In a way the devs tried to hard and overshoot. They feel like a different family.

I know what you mean. When I say they did it poorly it's more about how they didn't give players a chance to opt in or out on the change. Their hearts were very much in the right place, but any change to what some consider icons should be handled on an opt it basis. It's not like they redid Partihaus, they did the Goth's. Touching them is the third rail of simsdom. Touch it at your own peril.

Looks are too subjective to force changes on people, even fringe households. Go ahead and redo them as they see fit, but let us say yea or nay before they land in our game and permanently overwrite what we're used too.

I feel like they did him best. You're clearly not wrong for thinking they did the worst on him, it's all subjective. To me, he feels more dignified and fits his age in game better now.

Now that I've had a chance to see every member of the household up close in CAS, I would rank them best to worst like this...

I would move poor Alex further down and put more separation between him and the rest but I doubt the forum software would allow that much space between lines of text.
