@IceyJ I don’t accuse you for wishful thinking and I also don’t believe that Grant just was trying to crush some rumors. Usually I would agree with you that EA wouldn’t have two big similar Sims games for the PC at the same time. But a lot point in the direction that this is exactly what EA plans:
1. It is time for EA to announce TS5 (maybe as TS5 or maybe under a different name) unless EA wants to lose a whole generation of new young simmers who now think that TS4 has become too big already for them to start buying and playing.
2. EA has always lost at least half of the current simmers every time EA has released a new basegame. Maybe EA has found a way to try to prevent this now?
3. TS4 has been marketed as a live service with smaller packs released more often and with new content released in free monthly updates too. This has become possible because new packs and new content now isn’t sold in physical stores anymore but almost exclusively as digital downloads.l
4. EA has always attempted to make each new big Sims game as different from the previous games as possible. EA will likely do the same with TS5 and once again target it mainly at new young simmers (who now mainly just play the free mobile online Sims games).
Grant’s statement made me think even more about what kind of Sims game that TS5 most likely will be and if EA wants to still release content for TS4 too then I think that this increases the likelihood that TS5 will become an online multiplayer game. This would make a lot of sense if it is targeted primarily at the young mobile Sims gamers and then it would make a lot of sense if EA still released new content for TS4 too to still also target the more traditional Sims players.
