Do You Use Live Drag?

Our Sim God Hand allows us to help our little Sims out in their day to day life. Do you use it or do you prefer to help lead your Sims through suggestions instead?

There is no point in a simulation game if nothing is simulated. If we just want to click and not make the Sim have to do what we have to do then it's no better than any little, cheap, casual, half animated game. I know it can get annoying and time consuming, but that's what made The Sims great..the simulation. If they represent 'life' then they should have to do what I have to do.

ETA: Two pet peeves, a trash bin that makes money. :s and ordering meds from a pc and never having to get off the butt. :s

But isn't that simulation of real life. I rarely visit my pharmacy for a refill of a medication I take daily. I order a 90 day supply online and have it mailed. I do wish sims had mail order for medications rather than just magically appearing in their inventory.

As for the trash can I never use it but maybe some think of it as being paid for recycling.

I meant the fact (like in little casual games) you, the player clicks the pc in TS4, and med appears in inventory. That's not simulated. That is much like a casual game where you the player is clicking and the Sim didn't even have to move. Bad design and different genre in my opinion.

We have to walk to the pc don't we, sit down, log on and order. These Sims don't even have to stop a visit to the toilet while we do this for them. Dragging trash to the can (paid or not) is also a lack of simulation. Good we have a choice but lazyiness on the Sim's part and it is also in line with gamers who prefer less simulation and want the goals and levels instead of simulation which is time consuming. Again, a different genre in this game. ETA:If they kept going with the different genre introduced in this game, then eventually you click something, and the Sim does nothing but your click gets them a buff. I'm sure that type of gameplay would cause some to think where this is all heading one day. A different genre is not a good thing in my eyes. Simulation matters to Simmers.

I really only use it for putting party plate leftovers in the fridge. I tend to have the sims cook larger meals, and do not want them to spoil, so I don't leave it to chance. Most everything else they clean up on their own. I even make them scavenge for parts in trash piles before putting them in the trash can. Dishes I like to leave for children/teens to clean up as it helps with their trait skills, but Patchy can certainly foil those plans sometimes. If only Patchy would fix the computer he just broke....

I use it sometimes when they are busy or need to sleep or something.
  • Only for clearing up dog mess, and very occasionally plates and rubbish piles if there's no time for them to do it.
  • I usually forget that I can just drag dirty items into the trash bins and stuff, but when things get really out if hand, I drag it away. What I dislike the most is that when there are lots of dirty dishes, my Sims won't stack and carry them to the dishwasher, only to sinks (which defeats the purpose of having a dishwasher, IMO).
  • I normally tell them to clean up, but if my sim is in a hurry I might help dragging.
  • I have to agree with @Cinebar on this one.

By doing everything for them it’s a short cut. The same way sims ordering homework and books and the book instantly appearing in their inventory or library (or anything from the computer for that matter) I like in earlier games you had to have food in your fridge for meals or order some or go and buy some. Everything wasn’t just given to your sim, a mere click away.

  • should be a 4th option that is a mixture of both. 95% of the time I make the sims do it because there isn't much in the way of chores or household tasks. Sims can't sweep, can't mop, they have no bed to make-up so I tend to have my sims do it.
  • Yes, because ain't nobody got time to wait for slow af sims to put stuff away when I need them to do other things.
