I use MCCC to slow the game's clock down a bit. It still goes fast, but I can have nice leisurely meals at least. I do usually have a goal I want to accomplish in mind. Sometimes that means concentrating more on one Sim; sometimes it may be getting past a family milestone together. I also play with aging off so I don't feel rushed to accomplish my goals.
