Do your sims look like their parents and elder ancestors?

When my sims have children, the girls almost always look exactly like the mom, and the boys look like the dads. Usually they'll take one feature from the other parent they don't favor (girl gets dad's hair color, boy gets mom's eye color, etc). Only once I think did I have one sim who actually took features from both parents. My sims only look like their grandparents if their parents are spitting images of the grandparents (wish I had pictures...being a new member stinks >.< )
