In the Sims, extended family is treated like dirt. A sim automatically has a 'friend' status with their mother, father, and any siblings in the household. Everyone else is a stranger to them. As a fam...

I mean, in terms of relationships, with the Parents it makes a little sense they are automatically Friends.
But I think with Siblings, Cousins, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, heck even Pets. I think they should start off as Strangers - Acquaintances.
I mean Just because we're family doesn't mean I automatically have to like you.
When I was younger, since birth, I knew who I liked and who I didn't like. I always use to cry in my paternal grandparents arms.
wasn't till I was older I learned overtime why. Long story short, On a real note, They were the reasons why my parents never married and tried to have me aborted.
And, It also makes sense that Why should a toddler have any knowledge of a Grandparent or extended family member. if the Parent never mentions them or brings them around? Like I Never met my Maternal Grandparents, and I only had one conversation with my Grandmother, one over the phone, when I was 10, four years before she died. And when She died, I couldn't find the emotions to mourn, except regret that I never got the chance to know her face to face. And over time My mother told me stories of Grandma Liz, and I feel it built a good relationship with her even after her death. And So I Immortalized her, In my Story and in My game.
Anyway, I think, when my sims are about to have a baby I make sure I have the sims I want around to get to meet the Baby after it's born.
If they have negative feelings about the baby. I get the Baby and that person's relationship squared away. Yes, at one day old and my babies already has enemies. Just like I did, and honey we've been faking since 1995, God bless.
