That may be just your area. Around here, many children ages 14 and up can be mistaken as adults. I see lots of high school aged students since my own daughter who is a sophomore in high school this year. My own daughter has been told she looks like she is 20-something. Many of her classmates also look to be older too. The only way to tell they are younger is possibly by some of their actions. It is reason enough that businesses here check ID (sale of tobacco or alcohol products) if a person looks to be 30 or younger. Wouldn't you know it, that angers adults who are are in their 40's and up but look younger.
That is why I said in my original post that what original poster really must miss is a pre-teen look. I also told how I achieve the child to preteen look with the kid life stage. The same can be done in the teen stage. Dressing them to look really young is easy, then later you transform their look to an older teen look. Like I said previously, I am in CAS to change up looks about every sim week to achieve this.
I did say sometimes that could be the case.
But there is no way that, in the majority of cases of 14 year-olds standing next to 25-30 year-olds, I'm not going to be able to tell the difference. In the case of a male, the 14 year-old might, but isn't likely to have stubble, a fully developed beard, or the early stages of male-pattern baldness (which affects two-thirds of men). The 25-30 year-old will also, more likely than not, be physically bulkier or just plain heavier.
