Does fame decay seem too quick/harsh?

I'm a rotationally player, so I'm curious to know when fame decay appears, technically? Is it calculated every day at midnight? Or once every sim week? Or is it calculated only when aging is on? I take 4x7 simdays to get a full rotation (all age up 1 sim year). If fame decays every day, it means 28 days of decay before I get a chance to repair it. If it decays only every week, I might be able to fix it, but not if decay happens constantly. Hopefully the decay is not so bad on the first fame levels, guess most of my fame sims will be down there.
