Doghouse

There are no doghouses in the game unfortunately. The lack of doghouses in the game is now more obvious than ever with Seasons. A real shame.

It really surprised me how little they put in for the animals, especially dog houses. Then I was really shocked to learn they were deliberately left out because Grant from the EP sims team thinks that people who own dog houses are not good people. I wished had originally been able to say something because I know I would have told him this. First of all how many people leave their dogs outside, while they are at work. The dog is safely in the back yard, with proper shelter, food, water, and toys. Would it be more cruel to have that dog outside without a dog house, no shelter in case they want to get out of the elements. There are also others who have working dogs, dogs used for hunting, farm dogs used for the sheep, cattle, and other farm creatures. What about the dogs that live way up in the north, and are used for sleds, these dogs. But really is any one going to have that many dogs in their home at one time?

I never thought much about the lack of doghouses at first, but it really does kinda suck that they aren't in the game. It would be nice to have them, especially for smaller homes were there is less space for their beds, toys, and food bowls.

Oh well, at least we can just make some of our own.

It would be good if we could place roofs on half walls, then we could make something that looks more like a dog-house because it would not be the same height as the sims house.

Pretty sure he's referring to the large number of people that get larger dogs and literally just leave them outside all the time like dogs are somehow immune to the heat and cold. Like a pp who said the lack of dog houses is even more obvious now with seasons. He honestly has a really valid point. Are you really missing out on an object that much to use just when your sim in working? Or would most people that expect dog houses as a reality probably just lock the house doors for pets and force the dog to stay outside 24/7? That's against his morals I guess and he didn't want to give anyone that option.

Also, those dog houses wouldn't really provide much in regards to shelter from severe heat or snow, realistically. Farm dogs and stuff probably stay in the barn.

Dog houses give us options, options on where to have an animal - particularly a large one in the case of small houses. I have a friend that lives in a small house & has a large (90+ pounds) German Shepherd. Navigation in said house is nigh to impossible unless the dog is outside. If so in RL, I suspect sim life would be similar. Dog house gives the option of where to put the dog. We have them in TS2, so what's his problem? Deciding on what goes into a game solely on personal bias is poor business practice. For a game that supposedly is about giving players options, there seems to be repeated effort to limit/remove them.

I downloaded a dog house yesterday, same mesh from the Sims 3. Works great. I def needed it with seasons.

yeah but why would you have a dog that is too big to fit inside your house unless they're actually Clifford

What's paradoxical to me is they didn't put dog houses in the game because they think it's cruel, but NPCs don't care about their pets, they're always sick and/or dirty, often hungry......
