@Pamtastic72 yes there will always be ppl complaining about anything, but i'm pretty sure after adding way more toggles (they could even have intensity levels) a LOT less people would complain. the sims has never been a 100% realistic life simulator and it shouldn't have to be, but it has always been a game about customization and i think it would benefit a lot by adding toggles, not only for the complainers but also to adapt the gameplay to each player and to give devs more freedom when trying to implement a specific feature.
But @bella_goth they added TWO toggles for weather, one of which totally prevents sims dying from extreme temps in Seasons and people still complained until weather death got nerfed! That’s what I am saying. Toggles don’t seem to matter because they complain anyway and then the feature gets patched out.
This is what I've been saying too, along with there shouldn't be a need for toggles, not when the packs themselves are the toggle (in reference to RoM and Vampires). Like it's super easy to skip out on a pack because you don't like a feature, be it a main or side feature. But to buy it for a handful of decore and clothing items to then turn around and demand a nerf for a CORE GAMEPLAY MECHANIC, they really only have themselves to blame. You'll find that more often than not these people who demand nerfing of supernatural elements are the same ones who'll turn around and say TS4 is lacking in gameplay mechanics and fun things to do. Gee, I wonder why. /s
yeah sure ea will go and say "realism players, don't buy occult packs" lmao they ain't willing to lose money so of course if they see complaints they'll nerf things to keep these players. all i'm saying is instead of nerfing something add a toggle for it. most of the in-game toggles requires ppl to know all the game features and this can get boring and annoying. players want it easy so just add a toggle for them, what does it cost?
the game needs toggles, not only for occult related but for many other features. if they game didn't need them, then people wouldn't be using mods like mccc where you have tons of new options for your game. also, you're mixing up what people means when they say the game lacks gameplay. it's easy to say the game has lots of gameplay when half of it is reused.
But there's the problem, people say "we need toggles" so the devs add them and people don't use them aka the weather-related deaths. There's a toggle there, but these people don't want to use it because turning off weather effects is "unrealistic". So the devs it seems are caught in a rock and a hard place, because there are toggles there as well as in-game defences against weather-related deaths (going inside, wearing the appropriate attire when outside etc) but players are fools and don't want to use what's provided so they'll continue to demand "NERFFFFFFFFFF!!!111!!" until there's NOTHING in the pack and it's a bland, watered-down safe dollhouse for them to play with.
Have you ever played a game before? A lot of games have recycled and reskinned content, if the asset is there it's often cheaper to reuse animation/assets than it is to make/build new ones. Sure the reusing of animations and assets are overdone in TS4, but it's not the first game to do so. Not to mention we have no idea what's going on behind the scenes and how the budget is allocated when it comes to modelling and designing. So who's to say if they have little or no choice but to reskin everything.
there ain't a toggle to have weather effect but no deaths from it. and sometimes players do the things necessary and use the "in-game toggle" but for example i command my sim to go inside and put cold clothing, yet they prefer to go to the pool and freeze there for no reason, so while i'm busy with other sims this exact sim will die of cold just cuz their AI wouldn't prevent this behavior.
if people is asking for an exact toggle then instead of nerfing the feature just add the fckn toggle. and yes i have played other games before. i know many things are reused, i'm the first one to give ts4 devs the benefit of doubt by blaming it on their budget or ea's rush with the packs however it's hard to not notice that most of the gameplay is reused and most of the furniture is recolored. and while this is a common practice on this field, at least other games have way more options to reuse from, ts4 has the same interactions for half the game.
