Naturally any Cemetery lot would be different to Sims 3 cemeteries and then they'll say the cemeteries aren't good enough. But clearly they've never seen the gravestones hanging in Deco. it looks like with a little building you can live on a cemetery anyway. They could try turning on the Spooky trait that summons ghosts at night.
I really am not sure what was so amazing about cemeteries in Sims 3 since you can play as a ghost in Sims 4 anyway.
That’s not good enough. And believe me, I personally have used many many of those deco gravestones on many of my spooky haunted graveyard lots. Residential or other.
What some folks mean by “cemetery” is indeed the (TS3) mausoleum. (Perhaps TS2 has the same item, but I haven’t played with that iteration for long enough).
A graveyard in TS3 is no graveyard without this interesting gameplay object. The gameplay the mausoleum offers seems to be missing in TS4.
Like some have already mentioned here, The Sims 3 cemetery lot organizes all dead within that world by storing them into this mausoleum.
The interesting thing about that is that it gives the player an option to either empty the mausoleum by cleaning the dead or decorate the graveyard with all the gravestones and urns that are stored in that building. Once the gravestones have been placed on the lot, all of these ghosts will haunt said cemetery after midnight. Very simple. Very easy. And a lot of fun. Plus you can have many adventures in the mausoleum and pick up a rare object or two...or be attacked by a bear.
In TS4 we don’t really know where these npc’s go, unless they die right in front of our sim. Without the urn or gravestone the player can’t do anything. Therefore an interesting gameplay element is being omitted for the sake of having limitless worlds. Where TS3 is closed off from other worlds, TS4’s worlds are borderless, meaning that every npc can spawn anywhere in any world.
I believe this might be the reason we don’t have mausoleums in TS4. TS4 wouldn’t know in which world to “store” the dead. A mausoleum that simply stores the dead and gives us players the ability to organize them as we see fit is currently not possible in TS4, because the game cleans up for us, in order to keep everything running smoothly. We simply don’t get an option to either clean the dead or give them a place in a nice garden. And...killing off a heap of sims on purpose just to fill up the cemetery can get tedious after a while...
So absolutely - instead of what the game wants, it would be wonderful if we get an option to organize the dead and do with them what we want. Without the need of mods. Without sacrificing the borderless worlds.
(Although an option to not have Judith Ward or Nancy Landgraab spoil the scenery outside of their hometown would indeed be incredibly welcome. I’d even give their gravestones a nice spot in the graveyard, if I can find them at all. )
