Dryer Causing Fires

Dryers have a chance of catching fire if you don't clean the lint tray. The option to clean it comes up when clicking on the dryer after every load you dry.

I've had a few. Originally, I blamed it on the Butler's negligence when it came to cleaning that lint tray! When I'm directing my Sims to do their own laundry, I'm able to prevent such fires. Once your Sim places the wet clothes into said dryer, there is an option to Clean Lint Tray. I have them do this before they dry clothes. However, I'm not always successful. Unclean lint trays in RL can and do cause such fires, just an FYI.

I remember when it first released it caught fire every time I didn't clean the lint tray, but I think they adjusted it a little. Not sure how high it is anymore, but I wouldn't bat an eyelash at your experience.

Ah--I hadn't noticed that dryers could be upgraded to "lintless" to avoid fires. That's good to know! I have generally stopped using washer/dryers in the game because of the fire issue.

Yup yup! One of the first things I do with a dryer unless I have...some reason not to.... *shifty eyes*

Just like real life, if you never clean the lint tray then a fire is bound to happen.

Ah...so they won't autonomously clean the lint tray then. My sims do the laundry on their own and I never direct them. Looks like I'll be removing the laundry stuff since I don't like to micromanage, especially with household chores I don't even like to do in real life. lol

But not after like once...and every time. I've lost 4 butlers in 2 days to the dryer. Plus I just created a family...day 2, dad did laundry and burned to death next to a shower. He didn't even try to put himself out. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention and noticed at the last second before Grimmy came.
