[DU] Three quick questions

1. Can children ride bikes?

2. Can children use the free-standing shower? Perfect for a gym and having two shower areas is silly.

3. Can teens wear university clothes? A lot of the clothing looks amazing.

Bonus question: Did children get anything at all this pack?

As a family player, I am disappointed about the handling of children in the game lately and (possibly) in this pack. I am not convinced that they will be able to use the soccer ball, because wouldn't that require unique animations? They can't use the exercise equipment (although I think they can use the basketball hoop). They definitely won't be able to ride bikes as confirmed on twitter and in the stream (although the gurus hinted that this might be added later, probably in a separate game or stuff pack).

A new robot toy will be nice, but it will probably reuse the animations from the talking llama or bleep the robot or the toy cars and animals from the toybox. I loved the school projects, building table, doctor's kit etc that came with the Parenthood pack, but they weren't enough! I just wish that kids had more unique objects (with new animations) and special socials coming with every pack that tie into their skills and traits.

Leading up to a University Pack, there should have been more after-school activities and extra-curriculars in place, which could have an impact on scholarships for universities and the various majors etc. They definitely should be able to play soccer (not just as a solitary activity, but with other kids and nets), and ride bikes (and tricycles for toddlers). Activity camps for kids at universities should also have been included (in real life they happen all the time -- language camps, band camps, computer and young engineer camps). Kids don't have enough fitness or outdoor activities as it is, and this pack could have added some. As well, since there is a culinary major, it would have been time to introduce the bake oven and bake table again, so kids can get a head start on cooking (once they have filled their creativity skill). They need to do much more with toddlers and children as life stages in this game.

Maybe the disappointment is from unrealistic expectations. This pack focuses on discovering yourself at university, therefore expecting children to have many interactions, objects, clothing is unrealistic as children on average don't attend university.one realistic expectation is that bikes should have been for everyone children and up. I hope there is a generations -esqe pack coming up next that will focus on babies, toddlers, children, teens and elders.

I didn't really expect all of these things; they just would have been nice. Some, in my opinion, should already have been added (like the bake oven). I guess we can be glad that kids are getting the "chatterbots" to play with as the guru said in the livestream. However, in previous versions of the game, when special new objects were added (eg. like the pool slide, bicycles or whatever) all age groups could use them. I don't think that is too much to ask; the only reason not to include smaller versions of bikes for kids (since the animations would basically already be done) is because they want to sell them to us separately. You'll notice I didn't mention CAS assets: that's because I certainly didn't expect those for kids in a pack focussed on YA like this. However, it would have been nice to have a few in RoM like we received in Vampires, and when they patch in free outfits, costumes or whatever why on earth can't they included scaled versions for kids. There's no reason not to include them.
  • Well, hopefully children will get University gear such as t-shirts, caps, etc. That's not unrealistic as they cheer on their favorite university team.

What does this new shower look like?

An open shower. You just attach the shower head to the wall.

wait, so will young adult sims get the embarrassed moodlet? If I make a same-gender dorm/bathroom, I hope this doesn't happen. That will get really annoying.

As long as they're strangers, they'll get the embarrassed moodlet, so when your Sim first moves into a dorm it will likely happen until they get to know their roommates.

They said kids can use the ping-pong table, so there's at least that.

That strikes me as odd. They were able to take the time to fully animate children playing ping pong matches, but not model child-sized bikes and create child animations for riding them? I feel like animating bike riding would be simpler, because they just have to animate them getting on/off and pedaling, the latter of which just goes in a loop while they're riding around.

I asked in the chat if kids could use the football but I don't think that one got answered. I imagine they will need resized bikes especially for their life stage if such a thing is ever included in a different pack.

Even if they could, I didn't see many interactions with the ball apart from practicing it or kicking the ball to another sim. I would've liked to be able to start impromptu matches or something..? Kicking the ball to another sim isn't very advanced gameplay either, like the snowball "fights" that you do once and then ok you're done.

You're probably right but it would at least be something!
