Dumpster diving and hygiene

Eco living obviously involve a lot of dumpster diving. In the stream we got to see them dive loads of times, for finding stuff to recycle, finding food, woohoo... but we never saw any of them get dirty? Not even the guy who was hanging inside a dumpster for "hours". I know they don't get the green bad smell effect or spotted clothes before they reach the very low hygiene levels, but I'm now thinking that because diving will be done frequently it won't affect their hygiene bar as badly as it should.

I really think it would be fine if my sim needed a shower after spending the day dumpster diving. It might even force me to plan their day, like searching through garbage at the time when they soon will need to shower anyway - to save water of course :)

Did any of you see a single sim that was very dirty?

There's no reason it wouldn't have an effect on hygiene. Even rummaging in a trash bin standard does. But doing it once with a single Sim is probably not going to make a significant difference.

I guess it has a same effect as rummaging through trash or when an embarrassed child hides in a trash can.
  • If you watch James's play through Wax to Riches you'll notice his sim's hygiene level drops REALLY quickly when dumpster diving.

I've timestamped the video if that helps.

  • They do get dirty, unless they have the reward trait that keeps their hygiene bar up. In the trailer they used quite a lot of cheats and developer shortcuts.

having done actual dumpster diving in a big city, I can tell you, most people who do it for honest reasons (not identity theft) choose specific dumpsters and they tend to be cleaner ones, not ones full of rotten smelly garbage.
  • @ParmaViolet87 thanx for video link :)

@Nushnushganay I'm pretty sure you picked a few selected item, not swimming in trash like our sims seem to do. They literally dive and stay underwater for longer than they can breath, lol. I just don't like the idea of sims doing that, and the next second greeting and hugging a bypassing sim, who will not react at all. Hopefully it won't feel this awkward when playing the game. Stinking hugs might even be the new trendy perfume :)
