What I really love is that blog entry from RF after the backlash of no toddlers and pools on the base game and she said something along the lines of "we built a really strong foundation that will make all of your wishes possible". And then people ask, why can't we have a real bear with OR? And they answer "too hard", what about couples cuddling when sleeping? "too expensive", hmm, ok, cars with proper animations? "hard and expensive". It's just ??? I'm not even mentioning babies stuck to cribs among other limitations this game has. I know the "too hard" joke has become old, but that's literally what they always tell us when we request something.. So, my question is, where is this great engine and strong foundation that is "capable of fulfilling every one of our desires"?
The person who actually said that was Ryan Vaughan and he left the sims team in December last year if I remember correctly.
It was? I had the impression that blog entry had her name. Still. I don't think he wrote that alone with the rest of the team not knowing what was being told to the fans after the backlash of no toddlers and pools. They wrote that blog entry to reassure fans and to stop the potential pre-orders cancellations spree. Even if for that they had to blatantly lie. They knew from the start the engine was going to be limited, why say those things and give hope to people? It's just... frustrating.
There were two blog posts. If you go to the Metro article I linked to both. Both were along the same lines but that particular instance you mentioned was Ryan, who is no longer on the team. RF made promises in hers too that haven't come to pass either. So yes, like I said in the article, they very carefully crafted those blog posts to retain those of us who were considering dropping preorders or buying the game. So it's not fair that they now act like they never did that or wanted us at all after they have our money.
They could have, at any time, came out and been honest and said the 'vision' doesn't cater to this or that play style. They haven't done that-so are trading on goodwill which is running out for lots of customers.
