Routing perhaps is better. However the Smarter Sims are more like a basket case of mood swings, extreme highs to lows. Manic and bipolar come to mind when I play.
Routing is terrible. I have this one couple, in their house, if they start to get romantic, will run outside to do the interactions even if they're standing next to each other. They constantly walk through each other. If they can't get to where they're told to go, they just drop the action from their queue (which may be why people think that it's better than Sims 3 routing where they would keep trying for a bit until getting the routing failure bubble). They constantly walk through each other, stand inside of each other, walk through furniture, do dishes in a sink that is furthest from them in the house despite there being one right next to them, will go five rooms away to put down a glass, etc. etc. etc.
Edit: Oh, one more really crappy routing issue, and it's due to the game not understanding what a room is. The door has to be the correct direction or else guests will walk inside and knock. If you lock a door trying to keep guests out, if it's faced the wrong way, the guests will be able to get into the room and not get out.
