Yeah I'm pretty sure the thought bubbles are just completely random. I have kids thinking about work and old ladies thinking about bottles and all manner of nonsense. In 3 I actually used my sims thought bubbles in tandem with their wants to guide me in their decisions. No longer possible, because whims and bubbles in ts4 have no logic, and are too arbitrary to form a narrative. The only time they make sense is if my sim happens to be insane. "Buy a bunch of 1x1 pools, you say? Sure you little nutjob!" "Thinking about llamas eh? OK, let's go tell everyone that they look like llamas!"
