EA, a Question About Sims 4 Game Engine

Just what is it? Where is this "Smart-Sim Technology"? Where is this engine they were boasting about?

Apparently the engine doesn't support beards very well. It's "more limiting" than Sims 3 engine. Why? You said it was going to be better. Is the engine just all hype because it originated as the engine for a poorly made online game?

Looks like the engine can host partying just well. Maybe it's because you built it only to hold your vision? Why aren't my sims smarter like you said? Sure, the stories are weirder, but not because they're so smart... it's because they're so dumb.

Why am I seeing loner sims working out at the gym? Why are my slob sims cleaning up after themselves? Why is my family-oriented sim seen partying and alone? Why is my good sim such a meanie? WHY? Is this what your new engine was built for?

I don't know what's more shallow: the game or the callous disregard for fans.

Thanks... sorry about the rant. I'm just a wee bit frustrated at the moment.

    Thought Bubbles:
@ejoslin I think they are just random. The way I think they work is there are probably just icons associated with a list of topics (i.e. Soccer, Cooking, Self, Tree, Book, Car, Job), and then all Sims randomly have a thought bubble about those topics. If there is a topic, like a recent trip to space or a new promotion, then those subject icons are accessed locally by that particular Sim, so they are restricted topics for a defined time period, by that particular Sim. The thought bubbles logic is another behavior that wouldn't be inaugural to the game engine from my experience.
@bekkasan I agree that it is great to tell stories or imagine that your Sims are in fact having a conversation about whatever is in their thought bubble.

So there's hope that they could make them better and far less shallow. That's good news.

Edit: Gah, I hate that we can't delete posts we decide not to send.
  • So seasons are just around the corner and this engine issue is in my opinion much more apparent than ever. I mean everything if flat as a pancake!

So if its true that they developed their own engine...then where does this "its too expensive" line come from?! If they developed it themselves then, they are the ones making the codes...
I just don't understand what they are doing with this engine ans why they are choosing to limit themselves so severely.

Please don't necropost in older discussions. :) This thread is almost 3.5 years old, and while it's great wanting to jump in on the conversation, please try to make sure the thread has been active recently. <3
