Birth date, zip code, and profession could just be EA looking at what kind of people they could target as a customer (age, area, and skill set). I agree with you however and wouldn't answer those questions. Seems odd that this email has shown up several times recently. I'd probably just ignore it, but if I was interested I'd probably email EA support and ask them. I think that's probably the only way to be certain.
