EA email "make your opinion count"

No idea where to put this so I'm sticking it here:

The past few days I've been getting this email in it and I'm wondering if it is actually legit because although I stopped the survey none of the questions to that point were gaming related and were infact what I consider to be private. If it is legit and for research I'm ok with it but I want to be sure first.

It looks like an email from EA but I'm not sure due to the questions being asked.

I really don’t think that’s the same one.

No it's not ... just thought it would be a good way to let people know if they didn't. I don't know if I'd trust the email one either. I'd probably contact EA and ask if it's legit. I don't open things unless I know where they are from for sure.

it asked my birthdate , zip code, profession I ended it at that point because to me those things have nothing to do with my gaming and because it had nothing to do with gaming I thought maybe it wasn't legit.

I had my identity stolen and now I'm so super paranoid.

Sounds like others have gotten it though so no harm no foul. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't a scam going around. It was weird getting it 2 days in a row though.

Birthdate, zip code and profession are pretty standard online survey questions. A lot of sites that host surveys for companies will start you off with those questions (as well as things like gender, etc) no matter what the survey itself is about. It's nothing unusual at all, unless that's information you wouldn't want to give out. Personally, I've always slightly fudged those questions for privacy in the past. ;)
(A lot of apps give rewards for taking surveys from sponsors, which is why it's a subject I'm strangely familiar with lol)
  • If I get an email that looks a bit dodgy, I Google it to see if others have had it and what they have done. Nine times out of ten, it's a scam. As others have said here, if you're not sure, bin it.

They shouldn't ask for an exact birthdate (and everyone should be wary of giving that out). That's identifiable personal information that could be used to access your financial and health information (since it's often used to verify that you are you).

If you see something online that doesn't seem quite right, just don't.
