why doesn't listening to music on earbuds count towards an aspiration of listening to music?? does anyone know.

I chose listen to classic, she stood a while listening then went off to paint on her own. still listening to the music. but her aspiration didn't go up. It wasn't until in the temple and listening to the floor music boxes that after an hour it went up.
maybe her painting cancelled the listening, although she still had it in her queue.
