Eating now takes about 10 seconds - that should have been showering instead

Eating is often used as a social activity.
Showering is a solo activity.
So I find it odd eating was made so quick now, which ruins social interactions you did around eating and cooking beforehand, but taking a shower, which is flat out solo, still takes so a large amount of time.

  • I never had a real problem with showers taking too long, because there were shower upgrades that made it manageable. But then again, a low-quality shower without any upgrades could make a shower take over an hour in-game, a good way for my sims to have the devil's choice between going to work dirty or being late.

The same was true of eating; my sims skipped more breakfasts than I do IRL with a tendency to hit snooze and a bus to catch, simply because it took too long to cook and eat it (or even to grab a quick bowl of cereal.)

Speaking of that latter, I wish there were a way for a sim to grab some fast food on the way to work. Going through a drive-thru on the commute is practically part of most Americans' job description, y'know?
  • Okay, for me, they still eat way too slow, so I have a mod to take care of that. And call to meal still works just fine in my game, so maybe it's a side effect of a mod - my sims eat and socialize. When I want them to, not all the bloody time. And I'm pretty sure they did speed up showers and maybe even baths in a patch not all that long ago...though I don't remember which right off the top of my head. Again, I has mods lol.
  • I like the way it is now, I can take my sims to a restaurant and have more than one course and still have time to go do something else before it’s 5 a.m.

I like it how it is right now, before it was too long. I think the main problem before was and is that the sims do everything else just not stayed on their chair and eat their meal. No, they stand up and switch chairs, they stand up and hug each other when starting a conversation (luckily I found a mod against this behavior), that cost a lot time. Why do they do this? There is no need for this behavior.

Example: I had a holiday feast and before starting this, I have let the sims sit down on the position on the table where I wanted them, father on the head of the table, mother right side next to him, twins on the left side. The feast was on the middle of the table. I've let the father call to the meal. Guess what, they've changed the chairs, instead of grabbing their meal from their original position. That's frustrating. The meal took approximately two sims hours, I let enjoy them the company and let talk them to each other. For a holiday meal it was a very good time, they didn't jump off after finishing the meal, they made jokes and talked eachother over the empty plate, just if they hadn't changed the position at the beginning. I have also found a Mod where they stay on their position for a certain while when talking to other sims, it was helpful indeed.
  • Once upon a time, it was considered very bad manners to gobble your food quickly. Now, in this day of Instant gratification, our Sims are busy doing the unthinkable just a few decades ago in RL. :open_mouth: Heartburn, much?

So far, my only argument with this issue is in getting my Sims to sit at a table for any meal. Mostly, they stand close to the dish on the counter and eat right where they are. I've even tried setting the table to little avail. Is there a mod, please?

As for showers, they do seem to take less time, which is good. My Sim waited too long, dawdling in the yard before the Starlight Accolades and was nearly late. After gardening and taking care of the chickens, a shower was in order, no? I think YES. But, no matter, he made it all showered with minty-fresh breath. Good thing, too, because he won for Best Performance. I love the game anyway and I will adapt.
