Editing and Replacing Special NPCs? Is it possible?

For a spawned person for the role, yes it is possible to edit that person in "Realm of Magic". Click on the character. Choose "MC Command Center". Then "Sim Commands", then "Modify in CAS".
(Do not click on the first "Modify Household in CAS" or they become a played character and a new one may be spawned to replace them)

Without MCCC, there are a whole bunch of cheat codes you can put in. Basically the "mod" already has those codes set up in a menu.

As for assigning one of your own? I'm not sure on that. My guess is probably not for one of the main magic gurus.

Oh Oh I have Command Center! I was always doing modify in household. Now I see my error >.< Will see if I can find the other option!

I did find it, thanks! I was always scared to click on flags tab as I thought it would be really advanced stuff. I always kinda stuck to just using it to cheat skills up and modify households.. which is prob why I was breaking townies ><

Flag Freeze their career with MCCC before editing them. I have all the special NPC's flagged this way now. Don't trust the game to ever keep these Sims the way they are. Yesterday I had to go to the effort of cheating back the original village Mayor in Cottage Living because I had edited her slightly in CAS and the game just decided to replace her for some random townie.

Oh, thanks for the tip! So many things in MC Commander Center I have been scared to use, but will start using ^^

I have been looking for information about this topic for a while from forums etc. since I want to assign a few of my own sims to NPC roles, butler for exsample. For most of the roles it seems possible. A sertain role might need sertain skills + hidden traits, usually two of them (NPC career and NPC trait). The traits can be added with MCCC or with codes.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm planning to make a sim (or download from the Gallery), give them the skills needed, and adding hidden traits with MCCC. Then marking them as unplayed (and not in the world). And finally getting rid of the current NPC sim. The game should pick my new sim for the role now.

Edit/ If anyone with more experience knows better, please correct me :)

That should work. Remember though, you may have to delete other npc Sims that default to that role if you want yours to be the default. ;)

Either that or make the others "played" Sims.

MCCC can also allow you to pull townies into your save from your library. I love doing this so that I don't see weirdly dressed townies. Some sims it overrules though like butlers and DJs, but it works pretty great for bartenders, passersby, living statues, and foodstand clerks. Just make sure you have ALOT of townies in your library or you'll get clones easily.
