Moreover, I found that students in Other Households can continue the new terms and gradually graduate autonomously. While students in My Household that I haven't played for a long time will get an F and probation overtime.
So, I believe there are some rules to separate "My Household" and "Other Household" sims. The reason may be about making background university students come and graduate overtime without playing.
That means if I leave them in "Other Household" for too long, every current student will graduate and I have to make a whole new set of university students after a year passed.
(Fortunately, I saved them in time and found that MCCC can freeze university progress, so I can leave them there without worrying.)
Oh hey. SimGurus also shared that on Twitter. Yes, Unplayed Households will re-enroll on their own and eventually graduate while Played Households will wait for the player to return in order to re-enroll.
Played sims failing a term on their own seems like a bug somewhat. Sometimes they do fine on their own, at other times they fail everything. This is the main reason why I'm thinking of replacing University Housing with Residential Rental (as University Housing will kick your sim out when they don't re-enroll or even become too pregnant).
It also seems like unplayed students take 3 courses per term...

Oh, good to hear that there is confirmation from SimGurus. But my point is it isn’t just unplayed but have to be in “other household” too. Stay in “my household” isn’t enough. Or this is for the save file without Get Famous.
Replacing University Housing with Residential Rental is interesting. If it’s safe for bug already, it will be the choice that easier in many ways. You can have manageable roommates that can switch to play too.

Hmm... I have to see there... I don't think Get Famous has to do anything with sims graduating on their own...
The thing is that all the Other Households are automatically unplayed while My Households can be unplayed. By the time Discover University was released, the Other Households and My Households system was there (it's been there since Cats & Dogs)...
I think I have to test it out. I have to make 4 households: Actively Played test group, Played household, Unplayed My Household household, and Unplayed Other Household household and see which ones get re-enrolled on their own and which ones don't. An in-game week is a long time though, so wish me luck!
What I think will happen is that when I go through a term, only the Actively Played and Played households will ask me to re-enroll them again while the other two have already re-enrolled. Let's see if that gets confirmed or busted...

Test done! The result (and their GPA):
- Active Household - Asked to re-enroll (A+)
- Played Household - Asked to re-enroll (B)
- Unplayed My Household - Asked to re-enroll (B)
- Unplayed Other Household - Asked to re-enroll (B+)
Wait... Interesting... Every household asked to re-enroll, even though one was Unplayed and one was Other Household.
I even went to pre-made student's household I've never played with in the save. They have only gone through one term...
All of these students were housed. I also went and evicted the Pleasant household, waited a day, and checked in on them. The game asked me to reenroll, but they have already re-enrolled in some courses.
The conclusion is that: Only unhoused sims re-enroll on their own. Whether My Household/Other Household and Played/Unplayed status affects it, that I need to make another test.
