Elevator problem.

So, awhile back I placed elevators in a penthouse build I grabbed off of the gallery. It's not an actual penthouse, it's like a residential lot but you pay rent. Anyway, I placed LittleMsSams WEE working elevators to put in that build. I got into build mode today and there was a pop-up that said "you have 2 elevators too many." So I deleted them and the build is fine now, but is that a mod issue or general issue and why am I experiencing the problem today if it worked fine in the past?

EDIT: It works fine when I hit the house in san myshuno, and out by "play, travel, more" it says build. I click that and it works just fine!
