Emotional Deaths?

I've been playing sims 4 for almost a year now (I'm behind I know) and watching others play for a lot longer (I know what you're thinking)

but I've never once or experienced an emotional death?! how? what?

Emotional Deaths are pretty easy to get if you actively TRY to get them.
Probably the hardest would be Embarassed, and that's as easy as Flirting badly after having a Bladder failure.

Anger has multiple boosting moodlets, such as Angry Decorations and Angry Spaghetti, and that's before taking into account the side effects of Mean socials.

    Hysterical is probably the easiest.
It's the only emotional death I have to try NOT to get!
Incredibly happy Sims can be done in by even a single +1 Playful moodlet if you're not careful.
Good food, beautiful decorations, high Needs, and so on. Happy moodlets stack up easily, and even a single Playful moodlet can turn them Hysterical after that.

Yeah believe me I have tried the emotional auras, spamming interactions, etc. Not nearly as easy as it should be given all of the ways to boost emotions. Tried to get a sim hysterical, filled the room with playful objects, spammed jokes, if they ever got hysterical they would cool down to very playful before the moodlet expired triggering the death. It’s a bad setup in my opinion, the deaths should not require such a process to trigger.

    Whaaaaat!

Hysterical is easy to get even when you're NOT going to extremes to get it! Just stack Happy and Playful Moodlets.
Of course the more packs you have, the more access to Happy moodlets you have.

    Let's start basic:
Food: +3 possible, +4 if Foodie
    Decorations: +3 Happy
    Playful Decor: +3 Playful
    That's +9/10 already.

    Funny Conversation: +2 Playful
    On a roll: +1 Playful
    Bubble Bath: +2 Playful
Funny face in mirror: +1 Playful

There, that's +15/16, the timer's ticking down until you die from laughter.

There's even more moodlets you can get though.
Already playful? Make a funny face in the Mirror: +1 Playful
Someone telling Jokes at a mic? Watch them for a bit: +1 or +2 Playful
Get told the funniest Joke in the world? +3 Playful!

If you have Spa Day, you can get +3 from Foot Massage, +3 from Hand Massage, both lasting quite a while.
Heck, if your Sim just gets happy a lot, and happens to be a Goofball, then they're just a ticking time-bomb of Hysterical Death!
A Goofball Geek Sim has one of the easiest times to die from being Hysterical, with Get Famous installed.
While streaming with a Streaming Drone, a Geek gets a HUGE +10 Happy Moodlet. That's already 10/15 on the way to Hysteria!
Pampering a Sim makes Playful moodlets deadly!

Agreed, it is quite easy. These are my sim's moodlets after just waking up in the morning:

All of these are practically just from existing. He didn't have to talk to anyone or eat anything or use any object to get these and it's already at +13. He's like this every night and a few hours in the morning.

On this topic, can Vampires even get Hysterical deaths?
A while back I had Johnny Zest as a Vampire, and I had him Hysterical nearly day in day out, as he's a Goofball, and was a Comedian as a living.
I had him telling jokes on a Mic while Hysterical for his work task, and often times just as default, due to his Goofball trait, but he never once activated the death by laughter. I kinda chalked it up to him being a Vampire, since my other super happy Sims never had trouble finding the time to laugh themselves to death.

Dunno. I remember killing some vamps at one point with emotions. That was a long time ago though and things might've changed since then. Still, vampirism only accounts for +3 out of that +13 happiness and +10 is still a lot especially for a sim that hasn't eaten or done anything yet.

My actress Sim experiences this every time I try to put her in a playful mood so she can perform the ' research playful emotion' for an acting gig. She goes directly to hysterical and drops dead. I have just given up and take the hit for not doing that part of the prep work.

She is materialistic, self-absorbed and a snob. It is Judith Ward, the preload Global Superstar that came with Get Famous. there have been some great suggestions here. I'll give some a try.

It happens when I play child sims, their caretaker dies and they get placed in a random family. I would send them to a festival which I have noticed are gone thanks to Seasons or just out in public without their kids and they would laugh to death get so mad they would die etc. If you have certain custom traits it'll give that sim an emotional aura that will affect other sims around them. One custom trait, in particular, will make other sims around them so mad that they will die of anger.
