With fairies finally officially confirmed by the trailer and the blog post I think it is time to have a proper discussion about them, similar to how we already a have a world discussion about the new...

I just watched the CAS preview on slow motion... I mean, it looks nice. Looks like we're still in Teen + for actual fairy forms (since all the younger ones with wings appeared to be costume wings)
Still looks like we're stuck with Wings, though. Might be able to make them very ghostly/borderline invisible, but Fairy form has wings.
On the plus side, it is a Fairy form, so you can go about your day looking like an ordinary Sim and hide in plain sight, though I'm not sure if the skin colors are an option for the mundane sim form. Probably can't shrink or hover in mundane form, but I'm okay with that.
Unfortunately the trailer shows that younger sims are left out again. It breaks my heart to see them excluded from all the magic over and over again. It happened with realm of magic, with mermaids and now again. I can understand leaving them out for more aggressive occults like vampires and werewolves but for spellcasters, mermaids and fairies I would have loved them to include all ages.
If you watch the cas showcase closely there is a brief moment where it looks like that is a wingless option as well. Unforturately the sceen is covered with butterflies and by the time they have gone, the devs have scrolled down the list of options. But this gives me hope for the possibility to have wingless fairies.

Woot! I missed that, thank you. (I blame old eyes and old monitor) Even at half speed everything seemed to be going by so fast.
Okay, with that, I'm good. I'm 85% sure that there's a skill tree (with the two different types of fairies you can be), we can go wingless, and there are a ton of customization options.
They may not quite be as variable as I'd like, but they're clearly about as variable as the sims can practially produce.
DaWaterRat Slowing down the trailer is essential to get anything out of it in my opinion. I watched it as 25% speed and even then some items were quick to pass on the screen.
