Ep's vs Gp's

Both. I love all of the packs and now have all of them (including Stuff Packs!). :blush:

It really depends on the content. I loved Vampires, Dine Out, and now Parenthood, but I am also loving Seasons and Get Together. :smile: I can’t decide!

I think the misconception here is that although Game Packs are a new idea to the Sims, they pack a whole lot into them with the amount they are given with. So preferable game packs would be more worth the money you would spend on them at full price. Since we've been spoiled by the large amount of content back with expansion packs in Sims 3 compared to those of Sims 4, it's not as filled with content as it used to be. Sure, perhaps they're getting better at filling EP's with much better and more content these days, and I'm in no way bashing those who preferred the amount of content of Sims 3 packs to Sims 4 ones. I do believe for the amount at full price the EP's are nowadays, there should have been more in them. This is why I prefer GP's over EP's; more content for the money I spent.

A simple breakdown as I see it:

I find the logic of this quite aggravating to me; it's simply daylight robbery.

Oh? Well, they aren't now...and I still believe I got more content out of Sims 3 packs than Sims 4 ones. GTW was an attempt at playing the EP like it was in Sims 3, and I don't think it ever recovered from how buggy it became as a result.

Of course not - they always drop drastically when they are no longer being produced. What surprises me is the sps are still the same price as they were when they were being produced (last I looked anyway) and they were just stuff no game play items. I recall all the Sims 2 eps and sps dropped to half price right after the Sims 3 came out but When sims 4 came out they did not immediately drop the price of the ep and last I looked sps were still 19.99. Even some of the store prices are still pretty high and here it is 4 years later almost.

I don't really care seeing I already paid full price for all the Sims 3 things including the entire store - I just find it odd they didn't get dropped in price as well as Sims 2 packs did after Sims 3 came out.

I don't find either one to be better or worse than the other value-wise.

I probably slightly prefer GP's because since the theme is more focused, I'm more likely to utilize a GP to its fullest. Whereas an EP is surely going to come with a handful of features that I will have no choice but to pay for and never use.

I own every pack and plan to own every pack on day one of release (except My First Pet Stuff took me 2 months before I decided I might as well get it) that said I always prefer EPs over GPs as for me personally EPs always add something that I end up using in my general gameplay where as GPs may add something I use often but usually they add stuff that is too specific for me to just incorporate my play without a reason.

I think at this moment the only EP that I don't use and would have to make myself use is pets as I don't generally enjoy pet but I fine myself using the retail system a lot, clubs to manage my sims and their friends, I enjoy sending my sims to festivals (at least when the weather is agreeable) and living in the city, and who doean want to experience weather.

As for GPs I only really use Parenthood and Dine Out on a regular basis and honestly parenthood only because so much of it has been integrated into raising kids and Dine Out only to send my sims out to each as I didn't care much for running my own restaurant. The rest of them are only used for specific reasons. Outdoor retreat and jungle adventure are only used when I want to send my sims on a vacation or if I have a sim with those packs aspirations, Vampires falls under aspirations as well or if I decided to play a vampire which isn't often and Spa Day is only if I feel like going to the spa isn't often.

I don't have all EP's, all GP's or all SP's for various reasons; the OP's question is not easy to answer since they all fill a role in one way or another. However, I voted for GP's since they are a great bridge between the limited funconality of a SP and the much more expensive EP; the GP sits nicely in between. :smile:

Neither. The content matters much more than the shape of the pacakge for me.

This is actually a really interesting way to look at it, some expansion do feel empty, like cats and dogs

All the expansion packs feel like we are missing a lot. I feel like when I get any of the packs. I would be quicker to buy any pack be it a 40 dollar expansion pack or a 10 dollar game pack as soon as it comes out if it gave us more content. I must say we are cheated either way. Sims 3 was very generous with the content we got we had a whole lot more traits in the game and lots of CAS and build and buy items. It's one of the reasons I wait when packs come out to see if it justified spending so much money for so little. It's like being charged 10 bucks for a gallon of milk outside of places like Alaska and Hawaii.
