Well, from EA's point of view the goal was to incentivise players to play the game and maybe to advertise the Life and Death expansion pack and from a player's point of view the goal was to finish the challenge in order to get access to some free items and ideally to have fun while doing so.
Up until this event I'd had very little contact with the Grim Reaper. Now I'm actually looking forward to continuing our relationship in L&D. 😄

I mean an event for simmers to participate with new items being the incentive, while also roped into the advertising of the new pack. Actually a pretty decently okay event. Like it better than way old events in the past
It's not that deep, nor any of the events have been. Participate and get free stuff.

I had a Now what? type of reaction after my sim cooked the ambrosia. She wasn't going to eat it and there's no one to feed it to. I put it away in a trunk for safekeeping. 😁 On the plus side she maxed her gourmet and cooking skills. Maybe she'll start selling ambrosia for a hobby as it is quite expensive. I also got this unexpected and funny reaction from the cat. My sim put the trash fruit earned from the event on the table and the cat jumped on the table and puked when she smelled it. 😁

I got to try new things I've never done in Sims 4! I've got over 4600 hours and still hadn't grafted a death flower or made Ambrosia. I was playing all my sims with lifespan turned off, now it's on long. Baby steps lol.

The point is that EA wants to show how big the sims is to their shareholders by creating 'incentives' to get simmers to play when they want us to play and with the content they want us to play with. The incentives are the free items. If you want the free items you have to go along with this or you will never get another chance.

I fed the ambrosia to my sim's boyfriend who passed too early. So I had an end goal all along.

I saw it more as a guide for players to make Ambrosia...
Yet agreed, you just wait, slowly get the ingredients, make Ambrosia really slowly, and win. Oh, and there are other tasks too. And then you have stuff...

I finished the ambrosia, but haven't had a social event or gone to ghost night. I actually did have a birthday party, but it didn't count as it wasn't a goaled event. However the game wouldn't let me set a goaled event while another event was occuring. So it looks like the reaper event itself interferes with the goal.
I was able to schedule a goaled event for the next day. Hopefully it'll work.
