Every suspect innocent?

I'm playing a Sergeant in the Detective Career and so far she has interrogated four suspects. All have been innocent!

Is this normal?

  • so you arrest the "right" person but when you bring them back to interrogate some are innocent? Everyone i've arrested has been guilty.

Yeah, it's weird - only happened once I reached Sgt.
  • Everyone (three different cases/sims) my sim has arrested has been guilty and confessed too. I didn't even know finding them innocent was an option since arrests fail if they're deemed innocent then! Not sure if this has anything to do with my sim's successful confession rate but I mostly have her use bad cop interactions... :innocent:

Edit: I believe my sim is just a ... senior detective though. Whichever level after detective.
  • What happens is if you have 3 clues, say, teen, dark hair and a hat, then you can arrest anyone with those characteristics. You need more clues to ensure you arrest the RIGHT person with those characteristics add there could be more. It's like Guess Who. They can fit the description but the better the clues, the more likely to be guilty.
  • Hey, imo if they accept the handcuffs they're guilty and I will get my confession!
  • I rarely get this, but it happens. Did you switch households between starting the case and making the arrest? Or install a new pack? Because this is usually how it happens for me. What happens is that your old clues get voided somehow and do not apply anymore.

    Some general tips:

When you enter the arrest scene, sims get spawned according to these rules:
    - One real suspect. From my experience this sim is always a new sim. So basically you cannot go wrong by just arresting the only new face on the lot.
    - One or more decoys. Decoys match the suspect in all but one category (age, trait, clothing,...). Also they are often sims already existing. Decoys can get arrested, but will turn out innocent during interrogation.
    - Random sims from your game. Trying to arrest these will fail and is not permitted.
If you have the Show Sims info mod, you can use it to check their traits and it will tell you exactly who is the decoy and who the real culprit.
  • I usually go until I get 6 clues, often times the site will span a bunch of Sims that meet like 5 of the 6 characteristics.

I have had some issues with one:
Only one Sim showing up on the lot over and over and it being an innocent one. this is a glitch and sometimes doesn't match at all, I find if I arrest them, then I can get new ones to show up the next time around to try again, but if I don't I keep getting the same one.
And two, after arresting a suspect they aren't at the police station for interrogation. When this happens they are there the next day when I return to work.
