extra bedrooms?

I am starting a new save with elder sim with her son and his wife. I usually always start my saves as "rags to riches" type gameplay but this time my story is that the elder sim has owned this huge 5 bedroom house that she raised her family in and eventually her son will have kids, her grandkids.

Until kids are born and are filling up the bedrooms, what do you usually do with the bedrooms? Do you keep them vaguely furnished as if they are guest rooms? Obviously I don't want to clutter them up with any personality until the kids are in there. Just curious what others do with empty bedrooms.

  • Sometimes they stay as simply decorated guest rooms, otherwise I make them into collection storage, home gyms, offices, craft rooms, game rooms, even pet areas.. really depends on the interests of the Sims living there.
  • I usually use them as other rooms, for hobbies for example, until I need them unless I know in advance what I am doing. Then I prep for the kids. However, your situation allows for a story for having those bedrooms represent the elder's other kids. Even if they do not exist, you could create them later or just have them as part of the story.
  • My most recent Sim turned a bedroom into a bug room. He nurtures his beetles, crickets, and grubs in there. He also does scientific analysis in that room.
  • What @Kita5399 said -- I'll turn the extra rooms into home offices mostly, or now with Nifty Knitting I might do a craft room with a rocking chair, woodworking table, easel and maybe the candle crafting station. (We need more hobbies.)
