Fabricate this, you monkey-loving son of a seagul!

Okay so Aaron has the maker trait but almost every time he tries to fabricate something he ends up wasting materials and covered in paint! He currently has like a 10% success rate! Is this common? He's also almost at level 5 and still it keeps failing! He is recycling dirty dishes, honey and whatever else he can desperately find in a pinch just to...well, Hallelujah! He finally crafted a dining chair!
  • @PenguinFoop Yay for Aaron on his success!!! As for the constant personal paint job I went through that with a sim & it drove me nuts too. Since I used one on a community lot I just replaced it & that seemed d to help some; at least I started getting more success than failures. For the dyes, I've gotten some while dumpster diving.

On a different note, just yesterday (rl) a dumpster very generously gifted me 392 simoleons; had to do a double-take to make sure I read that right lol.

I went through the same and ended up changing the sim's career in frustration.

I just started another sim in the freelance maker career though and this one has made 4 items so far with no failures. I think he just got to a level 2.
  • I'll try replacing the fabricator and see what happens. Thanks.

Also, congrats on the successes you've both had!

It took my maker Sim awhile to actually succeed at anything. I don't remember what level they had to get to before they were always successful, it's been awhile since I did that one. I completed it, but I was so bored by then that I decided never to do it again.
  • It helps if you stick to fabricating things that are several levels below your current level. The failure rate increases a lot as you attempt items close to or at your current level.

Ah that makes sense. He's been trying to fabricate at his current level! He was finally able to craft two dining room chairs and two floor lamps all without getting painted so hopefully the frustration is behind now. It's just getting hard to determine what is a bug and what is game design anymore.

I still want to love this game, I desperately want to love it.

Condolences on your many troubles, congrats for apparently turning the corner. I've long since given up on loving it, settling for mutual toleration. Remembering the suggestions if ever try to do that aspiration.
  • EDIT: Sorry, I went off on a rant. I just want this game to work. But still can't do anything but get painted by the fabricator.
