I have once but I figured it was because my sim was clumsy. She chose light tree and it burst into flames. Only the tree and presents got burned. If I remember correctly I got a sad moodlet with something about Christmas Trees being dangerous.
My sims def aren't clumsy... I must just have terrible luck with them! I always buy the pre-lit ones now because I've had it happen sooo many times. Maybe it's time I gave it another shot though haha!
The first time it happened I lost half the lving room but after that I've had sprinklers installed and they cut on fast enough that I've only lot the tree each time.
