I've not yet fully explored this great feature, except having a few families create a recipe without really seeing it in a bigger picture. These recipes are not only brilliant ways to "cheat/comfort"...

I have only recently begun to investigate these as well. I did a quick test when they were first created (I only needed a lasagna dish), but now I want to use them to their full potential. For quicker homework, I developed a recipe. The toddler of my sims will soon grow up, and his parents will prepare a nutritious dinner for him before he studies.
Having twins could also benefit from the increased fertility.
