Fed Up With Issues

Whichever SimGuru comes upon this thread and just "moves" it to the shadows of the forum, please just read it first. Pass it along to the head honchos at EA. This stuff matters to the players including myself. My future Sim game purchases hang in the balance here. I can't take these issues any longer.

My game is getting increasingly frustrating as I encounter ridiculous bugs that break the immersion of this game and are just plain sloppy. The festivals from City Living are overlapping to no end. The Seasons holiday decorations linger long past the respective holiday. The towel outfit at spas and gyms have ridiculous accessories (ex. beekeeper hat), the excessive gameplay lags and time weirdness, and many more. I'm really at my wits end here. This is a PURCHASED game, I have all the packs and have tried numerous times to correct the issues. Why are unfinished products (which take centuries to come out) being released only to cause more problems that the developers are not addressing? Our last game patch was a month ago and fixed nothing. That is an eternity when you have severe issues like this. I want to play this game the way it was ADVERTISED. Currently its just a hot mess. I've been playing the sims games since 2002, but there has never been more issues than now. I'm discouraged and embarassed. I hope other people feel the same.

End rant.

  • I don't remember sims coming out of nowhere to talk to my sims at community lots in the sims 2 if they didn't have a relationship with them... In the sims 4 it's almost creepy sometimes, like every time I bring kids to the park there is a random adult stranger that wants to talk with them, this makes toddler sad if they are not a charmer, and honestly creeps me out to the point I had their father master the public enemy aspiration to get the mastermind trait and subtly debase the creepy townies.
  • I like my sims socializing even when the bar is full. I love that they seek each other out to eat and just hang out. It's cute. Normally sims are so unaware of their environments and other sims... I like that they do at lease this. I wouldn't want my households feeling like a bunch of strangers.
  • I use simulation fix mod and that have helped a lot of playing. I use swich a lot to 1-3 speed so im happy that there is mod for that. But that EA didnt fix that ... it was the sims community. They fix some of the bugs from after sims 4 season pach but there is still bugs that i wish they would fix. As much i love the sims and i will always be a fan for these serie but i would not still would recomed anyone to buy these game and all for the dcls. Funny how they said after the Sims 3 that Sims 4 is going to be a lot more balanced game but i do think that Sims 3 have same amoungh of bugs that in Sims 3.. or even more. Butlers wont work, pet apobtion lags, sims tele sometimes after taking objects on the table, sims walk trow tables and some other bugs i dont remember are not still fixed. And i still like the sims but sometimes when i purchase this game its same thing that if i would go to the restaurant and order a steak and the steak would be cold and raw and the restaurand would just say "oh we forget to cook it but maybe u can cook it you're self? Eat it or not we are not going to do anything about it"
Have to see when the new bug fix pach comes. Atleast they fix a lot of bugs after the season. That was so anoying

The Ai is a BIG problem in this game, an example is: a toddler who's starving that grab a plate of food and climb the stairs to eat on the bedroom chair, it takes her a lot of time, when there is a chair right in the kitchen for her, perfectly usable as she used it in the past. The reason she does this is because the cat is sleeping in the bedroom. And this is not even a bug, this is by plum design.

Simply remove the problem - which is apparently the bedroom chair. Problem solved - the tot will use the closer chair. Or maybe lock the cat out of her bedroom - attraction gone.

I really hope that was more of a joke because it's not a good solution - It's just an annoying workaround. Because it basically means your pets and other Sims always need to be in the room where Sims are supposed to eat and you can't have any other comfort items anywhere (not even beds).

No it is not a real solution for people who get those issues. Keep in mind not every one gets all these issues - so I dispute it is simply an AI problem other wise I would have those problems too. You can't change an AI because some computers apparently have configure issues with the AI that all computers do not have. The computers with issues either need to be re-cognfigured - which depend on your skill at doing that or a simple solution - change the article of contention - the cat or the chair.

After all these years of Sims games we go through this with every rendition of the game - where there is always some pcs that play flawless with the game and some won't get along at all - it all come down to configurations in variants in different pcs and finding with the right match - I've been lucky Sims 2, 3 and Sims 4 - flawless mostly (helps - hubby an amazing pc tech who is a whiz at recognfiguring my pc to exact specifications needed 99 percent of the time) - had issues in sims 2 with Securum and certain high end Intel Duo pcs especially if that pc ran one of he Nortons anti virus programs (that one hat had that unstable scanner system in it) - finally through in the towel went back to AMC Asus super computer gaming desktop - no more problem. It's just the way it always is - there is no way with all the types of pc configs there are out there -all will ever work flawlessly with all game programming. PCs are not identical consoles and why there will be issues s long as players do not know how to recognfigure their own pc to make them work as the game is designed. Maybe buy the exact system the devs use to make the game - if you can't do that - can't re-cognfigure your own system to match - then you find a work around - because chances are the broken issues is for the least number of systems - not the majority. When it is the majority - that is a real bug and then Maxis can fix it because the majority of machine would have broken games - but less than that you are better off finding a work around instead of just having a hissy fit or waiting for ever. It's not a joke - it is a way to play your game without pulling your hair out completely.

I admit I have no clue about programing games, but shouldn't the behavior of NPC/AI be unrelated to your computer specs? I understand that some glitches can happen when you barely have the minimum requirements for a game, but the behavior of Sims should always stay the same.
To me it seems more like people have different methods of playing and building, and that's why some of us constantly get certain bugs or annoying Sim behavior while others like you apparently don't. There are enough players out there who have the newest hardware and they get the same bugs as people who have some older low-budget computer (including the weird behavior of the Sims).

I think some AI problems are based on what configurations your personal computer has set up and what is installed in your system. I know one bug (can't remember what it was) the gurus was said was caused by a program installed on someone's system. I had no idea what that program was or what it did but it evidentally was a problem for this game. I prefer ATI/AMD processors and cards because I never get the problems some have with Nvidia cards and Intel processors. And I can say that since TS2.

Unfortunately it doesnt work for everyone. Me for example. Its a bandaid at best for some people.

EA should seriously fix that. Simulation fix mod works for me but i cant imagine playing whitout it or if it wouldnt work. Sims 4 is unplayable whitout simulation fix. Atleast for me.

I didnt play the former sims games. I started with sims 4. So now your and my position make more sense.

I didn't know you started with TS4, hope you are with the series a very long time if they continue the series with newer versions on and on. All of them have things we wish were in all the others. :)

My game is also unplayable without the mod. I think it helps simmers with lots of cc. I have 12+ gb of cc and my sims will literally just stand still without it.
