When I create a story in my head, I will usually will create a single girl without any kids and the guy I want her to get with and they live together and I build up their relationship.
I was wondering how everybody else does it.
Do you do the same thing as me, and make them a household from the start?
Do you create your potential love interest and have them move into their own home? If so, how do you get them to eventually meet?
Do you let the game determine who your sim will fall in love with?
I'm interested in filling my world with some eligible, single sims and just letting things happen as they will, but I've never done that before so any suggestions would be great!
I do all three methods. Leaving romance to autonomy is never a good idea.
If you own the pack that contains the wishing well, you can use it to create an instant soulmate.
If you own GT, the clubs system is fantastic for relationships. Create a club just for the two sims you want to put together. Now buy a hot tub and set club activities to use hot tub, be friendly with club. Don't make romance an activity until the green bar is quite full. This method works wonderfully.
Also with GT, you can attempt to put two sims together as a couple using a certain interaction.
Why wouldn't it be a good idea to leave romance to autonomy?
My game's idea of romance autonomy is same sex relationships and married suitors.
I honestly don't mind either. Same sex relationships are perfectly fine in my game.
The female sim I'm playing now flirted with a male unmarried sim yesterday so I don't think it's entirely terrible.
