My sim was DENIED a proposal. His girlfriend was not living with him and I'm unsure of her traits. She was going to THE ONE! But since he denied her I changed my gameplay and he broke up with her because he wanted more out of the relationship. haha. He met another girl, they dated and their romantic relationship was high and he proposed to her and DENIED AGAIN!! Then I'm thinking, maybe it's him? I had this girlfriend move in already so I didn't want him to break up again. So again in my head the story is was she wasn't ready for marriage and just likes how things. A few sim days later he proposed again and she accepted. Are there any contributing factors of getting denied a proposal? Or is it all random? I have been playing Sims 4 since it came out and this was the first time I have experienced a refused proposal so I'm wondering.

Traits, such as noncommittal, can affect a sims chances of accepting or rejecting a proposal. So can the sims current mood.

I've an an issue with an unflirty sim. It was really hard to build their romantic relationship (she kept denying them or getting upset) and then she denied the proposal haha. I had to move her in so I could make *her* do the flirting and proposing

My Sim was once turned down and then died of embarrassment because someone at the park discovered he was an alien. His girlfriend was off in the bathroom so she couldn't plead for him. It was a sad day.

This has been an issue as of late with several people I know. Me and a friend are doing the drifter challenge. A lot of her sim couples didn't get married until later in life, if at all, because of repeated refusals. I have a couple (House009) that didn't get married for a bit, because of repeated refusals. She told me, she'd heard of a lot of people having the issue, too. It doesn't matter the traits, the relationship, the mood, the encounter, or who is doing the purposing.... all refused. The only thing I can suggest is wait a bit longer, a few days and see if it finally goes. That's how me and her have had to do it, just wait and try again later. It'll eventually go.

Interesting! Both of the denied proposals were outside! The one she accepted was inside!

The very first day I played sims 4 I made two sims as roommates. My plan was for them to become a couple. Anyhow, eventually my male sim proposed. But his girlfriend rejected him. He was embarrassed and ended up peeing himself (oops). I did absolutely nothing to help him. I didn’t really know about hiding in bed or a pep talk. Anyway, he became mortified and died. All of this on my very first day and my first family on S4 lol I stood there in shock and then just closed the game. Like an hour later I played again since I didn’t save and eventually they did get married and I played with them for a few months. Good times! :D I’ve never had a sim be rejected or die from embarrassment ever again.

I was FREAKING OUT when he got denied because I was afraid he would die of mortification because I've heard it can happen, it's just never ever happened to me. Luckily he was just "very embarrassed" both times. Usually, I take things as they come and create a story of the death but at the time he was my lone sim that I was moving up in the culinary world...I was just into the game and it's been awhile since the game has kept me interested but this story is working for me (I played for 8 hours straight yesterday...like eating dinner at my computer). It's been awhile since the game has kept me this focused and engaged. He's married to the second girl now and she's about to pop out their first child next time I log in.

I've had this happen several times with different sims. There was nothing wrong with their moods, fully in the green, had them well into flirty mood and still get rejections. I've even had a sim who had the whim to get married to the proposing sim and she still turned him down, twice.
The only times I manage to get accepted on those sims was to take them out on a date and get them in the mood there and propose.
