Fishing collection and deleted lots?

I deleted all the pre-made Maxis lots in my save file to make my own lots, but I was wondering how this affects collecting fish since certain fish can only be found on certain lots/areas. Do the fish still turn up on these lots even if a new park/pond is placed?
