I think it comes down to your play style. I tend to play realistic/family game play so I would recommend Growing Together. I use the world it came with a lot. I feel like the pack added a lot of gameplay. Horse Ranch also was a surprise hit for me but mainly for the world and build buy. The world that came with Wedding Stories is my favorite world. At this point you should be able to get all of the above at a sale price.

Ooh ok, what would you say are your favourite parts of Growing Together? I was a HUGE Sims 3 Generations fan so love anything family/homey. I wondered if it pairs well with High School Years? Tartosa looks stunning, do you know if weddings are still broken? Sorry for all the questions 😂

I've played several Weddings since they put out the repair patch for mws. For the most part everything works now. I haven't been able to get the flower toss to work. Sometimes I have to click on something more than once to get sims to do what I asked but beyond that I've been satisfied with the gameplay. The world is beautiful.
Growing Together added family dynamics and more family activities including stuff to build a splash park. It has become a must have pack for me. Also if you play with infants it gives more items for infants. I really like the recreation center lot type and the splash pad items. The baby showers and family reunions are nice too.
High-school years focuses on teen gameplay. You can travel with your teen sims to high-school, attend prom and graduation. It comes with a rabbit hole carnival area which is pretty neat.
Someone mentioned avoiding For Rent, I totally agree. I would avoid that pack until the game breaking bugs are sorted out.

I love Horse Ranch, but I love horses and the American west. It added fun things like nectar-making. High School Years didn't live up to expectations for me, though I'm glad I got it for the new world & npcs. For Rent is one pack I regret getting, as I haven't enjoyed the landlord gameplay at all.

I would hold off on Wedding Stories but High School Years is a great pack IMO. If you use mods a.deep.indigo has a mod that makes HSY so much better. Add in her education overhaul for even more immersive gameplay.

That's really helpful, I haven't modded Sims 4 yet so I'll definitely explore that!

For High school years wait for the sale. I got it as a gift, and I do enjoy it a lot, but it has it's flaws. One thing that I suggest for gameplay-wise is rags to riches. A Sim can buy clothes at the thrift store, and sale it for a higher price.
If you like occults, Werewolves is a good pack. They have a toggle that can keep werewolves in their own world if you want. They also have a system similar to Vampires. The only real flaw is that they can be a bit too cutesy or cat-like.
Horse Ranch would fit with Cottage Living, and is one of my favorite packs. I got it on sale, and started playing it recently, so it is still new to me. I have slowly started to move in horses. The horses have horns to make them unicorns if you want to add a little occult. The horses I have moved in are a mixture of horses my Sims buy in-game, or from the Gallery. The gameplay can be repetitive, but for me the fun comes with Sims interacting with the horses, and riding them.

That’s really handy about the thrift store, I think I’ll get any packs in the sale now since there’s always one at some point! 😂 I agree that werewolves gave me flashbacks to the newest Cats film - it’s the only time I didn’t love something with Taylor Swift in 😂😳 but I’ve heard good thinks about the functioning and am glad they can be cordoned off to a separate world if needed!

Werewolves and Horse Ranch are some of my favourite packs! I love how detailed the werewolves are and I love horses IRL. I also like Growing Together as I enjoy the systems it adds, especially milestones.
I got HSY in a sale and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I like the option of going to school and meeting other teens. Career day and prom are nice too. However it's not essential to me.
For Rent I can't really recommend. For me there haven't been many bugs and while I enjoy the option of "splitting" lots for several families, I'm just not vibing it overall. Maybe on a sale.

I love Home Chef Hustle and Crystal Creations more than any of the EPs and GPs.
I do use the Early Access Grill and the appliances from For Rent alongside the Home Chef Hustle stuff, though.
Some of my favorite rags-to-riches mods require Werewolves.
I use the Tartosa world and one of the hairs a lot, but not much of the rest of the pack. Some of the Horse Ranch gameplay is better placed in Tartosa than Chestnut Ridge.
I do a more cross-pack play than in depth play with any one pack. There is so much stuff that I never use, but every pack has something that I really want to have. I think they design it that way. The knitting pack has the metal rock music station. I wonder how many people have their game cluttered with useless knitting stuff just because they wanted the METAL station.
